Growing a Greener Tiruppur, One Tree at a Time
The Vanathukkul Tiruppur initiative has achieved a remarkable milestone by planting 25 lakh saplings across Tiruppur district, marking a significant step towards environmental conservation and biodiversity restoration.
Launched in 2015 by VETRY NGO as a tribute to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the initiative began with a pledge to plant 1.25 lakh saplings. Over the years, it has grown into a large-scale environmental movement, bringing together volunteers, farmers, organisations, and the public to expand green cover across the region.
The initiative goes beyond planting trees. By encouraging the selection of suitable species, supporting sapling maintenance, and promoting community participation, VETRY works to ensure that its efforts contribute to long-term ecological benefits.
Through sustained dedication, Vanathukkul Tiruppur continues to strengthen local biodiversity, improve environmental awareness, and inspire collective responsibility towards nature.
Reaching the milestone of 25 lakh saplings reflects the power of consistent action and community involvement. VETRY remains committed to nurturing this green legacy and building a healthier, greener future for generations to come.
